Once again, the partnership between WWF-Brazil and the Central do Cerrado cooperative takes products from Brazilian sociobiodiversity to the Biofach Trade Fair, a German fair for organic food that takes place in Nuremberg, between February 10 and 13.

Participation in the fair aims to bring babassu and baru products, with representatives of the Regional Cooperative of Family Agriculture and Extractivism (Copabase) and the Cooperative of Small Agroextractivist Producers of Lago do Junco (Coppalj), respectively, to the European international market. To this end, the partnership also has the support of the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) and Apex (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

In 2025, Biofach had 35,000 visitors from 140 countries, and the expectation for this year is to surpass the numbers of the 2025 edition.

For Ana Carolina Bauer, conservation analyst at WWF-Brazil, the presence in the fair is an opportunity to open markets, in addition to disseminating the conservation of biomes, such as the Cerrado, and strengthening traditional communities, while generating income. "Participating in an international fair at this level demonstrates, in practice, the capacity of community-based organizations," adds Bauer.

Valdener Miranda, finance coordinator at Coppalj, points out that the presence at Biofach is important for dialoguing with existing customers in Europe, gaining a new customer base and strengthening partnerships. "We also came to seek information, to get to know new technologies that can add value to our main production chain, that of babassu," says Miranda, highlighting the interest in consolidating the activities of the sociobiodiversity chains.
